Kerrachar Gardens

Kerrachar is a garden oasis in the wilds of north west Sutherland.
Started in 1995, it has been developed on the site of a disused croft and at present covers approximately 1 hectare(2.5 acres).

The garden features herbaceous perennials which grow extremely well in the cool and damp climate of  northwest Scotland. Primulas and Meconopsis (Blue Poppies) are prime examples of these plants.
The plants are propagated on site and many are for sale.

Visiting Kerrachar

Opening times:
mid-May to mid-September.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday

Kerrachar is not far distant from Kylesku but there is no road to it and the only approach is to take the special trip by boat from the Ferry Pier at Kylesku.
The boat trip takes about half an hour and on the way, apart from the stunning views, you may be lucky enough to see an otter in Loch a Chairn Bhain.
Details of how to get to Kylesku and Kerrachar are available on the Kerrachar web site:-
